WEDDING
RAMSDEN—BEETHAM. A wedding of considerable interest took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon, when Miss Beatrice Hazel Wardell Beetliam, daughter of Mr and Mrs Harold Beetham, “Highmore,” Lansdowne, was married to Mr lan Cecil Ramsden, son of Mrs E. M. Ramsden, and the late Mr .Bamsden, of Rangitumau. The Rev. E. J. Rich, Vicar of St. Matthew’s, was the officiating minister.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of magnolia satin, cut on classical lines, trained and finished with a plaited girdle. Masses of filmy tulle were worn as a veil and held in place with a circlet of orange blossom buds. She wore silver shoes and carried a sheaf of Pliilippinense lilies. There were three bridesmaids, Misses Margaret Beetham, chief (cousin of the bride), Margaret Mawley" (cousin of tho bridegroom), and Beryl Beetham (sister of the bride), and three small maids, Ana Beetham (sister of the bride), and Susan and Barbara Bolton (cousins of the bride), in attendance. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in frocks of Persian blue taffeta, with the front streamlined. An Old World and yet a modern touch was given by a twisted bertha on to the wide-cut neckline and two cascading frills falling from the hips to the tip of the train. They each wore silver kid sandal shoes, and headbands of silver leaves. The three small attendants were also attired in Persian blue taffeta, their long frocks being simply made with gathered skirts from yokes. They also wore silver sandals and silver-leaf headbands. All six maids carried bouquets of red and blue to tone with their frocks.
Mr Ronald Cameron, of Masterton, was best man and the duties of groomsmen were carried, out by Messrs Alister Buchanan and Jack Reed.
Tho reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, “Highmore,” where the many guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was dressed in a beige and brown lace frock, with a coatee trimmed with fur, and a hat to tone. She was assisted by Mrs Ramsden, mother of the bridegroom, who wore a frock of midnight blue matalasse, with lace sleeves, and hat to match.
The bride travelled in a Matitij} model frock of brown Angora, chiffon velvet scarf and belt with gold threads, and a hat to tone.
