TIN CONTROL SCHEME
“COMPLETE AND ELASTIC.” RUGBY, Tuesday. _ The Colonial Secretary, Sir Philip Curiliffe-Lister, answering a Parliamentary question in regard to developments in the tin market, said the Government did not consider any action on its part was called for. He said that one of the advantages of a complete and clastic scheme such as the tin regulation scheme was that it would largely eliminate opportunity for any risk of speculation, first by providing means of adjusting supply and demand, and then by securing the fullest information regarding stocks and supplies. In fact, the price of tin had remained remarkably stable for many months, with the result, he understood, that speculation had greatly diminished.
In addition, there xvas a bixffer pool under the control of participating Governments which could be used as an additional safeguard against serious fluctuations in prices. He recalled that the World Economic Conference l’cviewed the operation of the tin schemes and expressed full approval.—British V ireless.
