It is expected that the Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powell, and Lady BadenPowell will reach Wellington this afternoon on their way to Featherston. where they will be staying for the next few days. They are travelling by motor-car, and, in accordance with their -wishes, there will be no formal or official welcome. To-morrow, incidentally, a double birthday will, be celebrated. Lord Baden-Powell’s birthday and that of his wife’both fall on 22nd February. At the funeral of the late Mr Robert John Southgate, which took place at Masterton yesterday, among the many beautiful wreaths in evidence were tributes from the Wairarapa Rugby Union, of which Mr Southgate was a life member, and the Red Star and Masterton Football Clubs. The Rev. E. J. Rich conducted the services at the residence and at the cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs E. McKenzie and W. G. Lamb (representing the Wairarapa Rugby Union), S. Willoughby and R. Sliackleton (Red Star Football Club), S. Brown (Druids’ Lodge), and R. Page.
