COSY THEATRE.^,. ‘ ‘ DAMAGED LIVES. ’' “Damaged Lives,” showing at the Cosy Theatre this .evening, is announced as a picture with a message It deals with tire delicate and somewhat seriously neglected question of sex relationships as they influence individual and social health and welfare. Apart from its story, which is described as absorbing, “Damaged features a supplementary lecture by Dr. Gordon Bates, an eminent authority w’ho gives, it is stated, with delicacy and reassurance, just that knowledge and instruction which are necessary to the welfare of the community. “Damaged Lives’’ has been recommended strongly by the Racial Hygiene Association of Nejiv South Wales as a production which ought to be seen by every adult membeV of the community, and is stated also to be sponsored by the British Social Hygiene Council and allied associations throughout Screenings of the picture ed by many thousands of men'and women in Australia. THE REGENT. “FROM HEADQUARTERS.” A revelation of the inner wofffngs of a metropolitan police force in tracking criminals is promised in Warner Bros.’ newest murder mystery drama, “From Headquarters,” featuring George Brent and Margaret Lindsay, which comes to the Regent to-night. The story opens with the murder of a millionaire Broadway play-boy, and follows the search for the slayer through scientific investigations at police headquarters from the finger printing of suspects to their inquisition in the darkened third degree room. The mystery is made doubly baffling through a second murder which takes place under the very noses of the police at headquarters, presumably to cover up the first crime. The man hunt is largely carried on by George Brent in the role of a highly intelligent and scientific police lieutenant, and EugeriitPallette, a vain and blundering pollfe official, who nevertheless has an instinct for detecting crime. Margaret Lindsay, in the role of a beautiful and popular show girl, is one of the suspects, as is also the slain man’s inamorata and three men, one engaged with him in the blackmail schemes*.
