The Wairarapa Lawne Tennis Association’s competition matches were continued on Saturday in cold, overcast weather.
A GRADE,
MASTERTON v. MARTINBOROUGH
Mastcrton maintained its unbeaten , record for the season in the Gawith Shield competition, when it scored a comfortable win over Martinborough in a match played at the Masterton courts. Masterton won by 19 matches, 13 sets and 240 games, to 5 matches, 6 sets and 157 games. . The following are the detailed results, Jjjftsterton players mentioned first in eve™casc:—

MEMORIAL v. CARTERTON. There was an exciting finish to the Gawith Shield match between Memorial and Carterton, played at the, Sarterton courts. Both teams won 12 \matchcs, but Carterton had a margin of 23 games to the good. When the two teams met last year in the competition, Carterton prevailed by a margin of two games. Carterton won 12 matches and 219 games, and Memorial 12 matches and 196 games. The following are the results, Memorial players mentioned first in every case:—•

B GRADE. Playing in the B grade, Park defeated Tinui by 16 matches and 191 games to 8 matches and 142 games. The following are the results of the singles, Park players mentioned first in every case:—

Ladies’ singles: Miss Hesscll beat Mrs Dalziell, 8/5; Miss I. Reader beat Mrs Bennett, 8/3; Miss Elkins beat Mrs Atkinson, 8/7; Mrs Batty beat Mrs Speedy, 8/6; Mrs Mark beat MissLangdon, 8/1; Mrs King beat Miss Holdsworth, 8/6.
