AMUSEMENTS

THE REGENT. <• ‘ ‘ SLEEPLESS NIGHTS. ’ ’ Mirth and melody are said to be mingled happily .in “ Sleepless Nights,” which comes to the Regent Theatre to-night. Amongst the main high lights of this sprightly comedy are the lilting musical numbers introduced in the drollest manner possible, and composed by Noel Gay. One of the most haunting of these is entitled ‘■‘Just One More” and rendered by Stanley Lupin o and Polly Walker, the stars of the film, who find themselves aboard a yacht, and regarded in the public eye as being married. Matters become even more complicated when the two discover, they are beginning to care for each other, and in their sheer exuberance of spirits they dance over the entire vessel in searchyof a secluded spot for “Just one more” kiss. Everything of course comes right in the !end, but not before filmgoers have had more than their share of side-splitting laughter at the comicalities of the delightful pair. “With All My Heart” is another number sung by Polly Walker who accompanies herself at the piano. Still another is “I Don’t Want to go to Bed.” Seats may be reserved at Perry’s, ’phone 2496.

COSY THEATRE. “WHAT! NO BEER?” The picture programme to be shown in the everting is headed l by “What!, No Beer?” Buster Keaton and Jimmy Durante are seen as a pair of comic characters, one of whom cannot laugh, while the other cannot cry. Alternating between excitement and hilarious comedy, the picture centres around the running of a brewery. Buster is a taxidermist and ‘ ‘ Schnozzle ’ ’ the town barber, but by accident they are involved in the operation of a wholesale brewery. And, as if being caught in the toils of ignorance of beer-making were not enough, they are also caught between the fire of two beer-running gangs who seek to control the output of their brewery. The picture is treated entirely in a humorous mood, but with plenty of excitement thrown in. Phyllis Barry, the popular Australian actress, has the leading feminine role. In the supporting cast are Rosco Ates, John Miljan, Henry Armetta, Edward Bropliy and others. Seats may be reserved at Perry’s, ’phone 2496.
