China’s sorrow, the Yellow River, has flooded over 200.0 square miles „jn the Province of Shantung. 7; A foreign expert returning here from the scene of the disaster reports that l,500,000„people are affected; The loss of life, is ■ small, owing l to ample warning. Several towns were com--pletely evacuated by the populace, jyhile in others the people, including prisoners in - the gaols, took' refuge on the mediaeval walls. Everywhere the 'dykes are being feverishly'Strengthened. The gates;of some cities,have been barricaded with sandbags, •‘•-.vj-p?; The river is now falling.
