DISASTROUS STORM PEOPLE TRAPPEDj IN .HOUSE S. •'( Press Association Electric Telegraph—CopyrigM KINGSTON (Jamaica), Thursday.; ,- Seventy persons were drowned today by floods in the city and the parishes of St. Thomas, St. Catherine and St. Maty, following a storm. The damage is estimated at £400,000. Bridges and buildings were swept away and banana plantations levelled. The storm lasted six hours, and is described as the worst in 80 years.
Water rose as high as six feet in the streets and rushed through dwellings, washing away many occupants trapped in them.
