SHIPPING BREACH

GERMANY’S ORDER BRITAIN PROTESTS. .Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Friday, 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. Mr Basil Newton, British Charge d’Affaires at Berlin, has been instructed to protest against the German shipping order, as it is a breach of Article 18 of the Anglo-German commercial treaty securing equal privileges for the passengers and ships of either country, and is open to the strongest objection as interfering with the right of individual passengers to embark on any ship they choose. Mr Newton has been requested to enquire into the contemplated cargo restrictions.
