WAR IN MOROCCO

BERBERS AT BAY FRENCH ADVANCE. Press AssLuhiiloJ Electric Telegraph— Copyright LONDON, Thursday. Mr Ward Price, correspondent with the French Army in Morocco, declares that the French have been hindered by Berber sharpshooters concealed in mountain caves, the storming of which has been the result of five days’ continuous fighting. Tin' French' have now reached steep hills commanding the lower slopes of Mount Badou, the formidable last- stronghold of the Berbers. Airmen report a concentration of Berbers around the wells.

Each tribe fights desperately, under the blazing sun, to defend its own little trace of barren country and scrubby herds.

Some 3500 Berbers have surrendered. The men are fierce and the women swarthy and handsome, and tattooed. They have been placed in a concentration camp.
