GOLF BALL.

A BRILLIANT FUNCTION. VERY LARGE ATTENDANCE. . One of the great social functions of the year, the Golf Club Ball, took place in the Town Hall last night. Largely attended, the ball was a most brilliant affair and probably one of the most notable held by the Masterton Golf Club. The main hall decorations were artistic and gave the scene a gay carnival effect. The main lights were enclosed in long shades of green and yellow with streamers fluttering down. Two long ropes of coloured lights provided support for the strings of bracken which stretched nearly the whole length of the hall and caught up in a canopy effect in the centre. The walls were covered with clumps of bamboo. The great central light was decorated with a magnificent latticed lantern shade, while underneath it in the centre of the hall was the orchestra dais. The supper and lounge rooms were also very tastefully decorated. The whole scheme was certainly a credit to the enthusiastic members of the committee responsible.

The decorations were carried out under the efficient supervision of Mr E. W. Payton, assisted by members of the ladies * committee- and others.

The joint secretaries, Miss E. Robieson and Mr D. T. Herbert, and the committee did their job exceedingly well, for expressions of delight and appreciation were heard on every side from the guests. A- very fine feature, especially to the dancers, was the -exquisite music provided by Rudolph’s orchestra from Wellington.
