PETTY THIEVING.
CIRCUS HANDS ARRESTED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Certain petty thieving which coincided with the visit of Wirth’s Circus to places in the South Island, resulted m a search warrant being issued in Wellington yesterday. The warrant was executed by Detec-tive-Sergeant Jarrold and other -detectives, and several litravelling rugs, shirts, collars and gloves were, taken possession of by the police. Three circus hands, Robert Edward Butcher (20), Robert Landlord (31), and Ernest Sydney Stewart (30), were arrested and charged with having received property, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained, and were remanded to-day until January 10th. Two charges involving property to the value of £2l were made against Landford. Stewart is charged with receiving property valued at £2, and Butcher property valued at £2 4s 6d.
