MEETING OF DIRECTORS. At the monthly meeting of the Y.M.C.A. directors last evening, the president, Mr G. W. Moricc, M.A., B.Sc., extended a hearty welcome- to Mr T. L. Elder to the board. Mr Elder suitably responded. The general •secretary (Mr A. E. Bate) reported on the effort being, made by members -of the Boys’ Department to dispose of the goods received from the Blind Institute, Auckland. A shop had been lent at the soifth end of Queen street, opposite the Queen’s Hotel, and the boys intended displaying Ihe goods there during Christmas week. t Arrangements wore reported to be well in hand for the annual- bovs’ camp, which is t-o extend from January 19th to February 2nd. It had been decided to employ a man to look after the cooking arrangements, and there arc prospects of this year’s camp being a record one. It was decided to hold the next meeting of the directors on Thursday, February 9th, 1928. The General Secretary reported a slight shrinkage in the • statistics as compared with the previous month, which is usually expected with the coming of the longer days. In view of the much longer hours of daylight this year, it is good to notice* that, compare dwith the same month last year, the total attendances in all departments show considerable increase. During the month the General Secretary got into touch by letter with 25 Flock House boys resident in the district, and again offered the facilities of Hie association to the boys. Replies had been received from some, and others had visited the rooms when in town. Interviews, etc., in connection with Child Welfare work had numbered 31 for November, and .all boys under supervision were reported as getting on well. The association had also been able to be of service to other institutions and individuals in the town, particularly in the loan of equipment and other facilities. Membership figures, at the end of November showed an increase of 13 on last year, despite considerable purging of tiie records that had been going ou during recent months.
