Mr C. Spencer Compton, acting upon medical advice, will shortly leave Masterton to take up his residence in NewSouth Yfabes, where the climate is more health point of view. Mr Compton has booked a passage by the Marania, leaving Wellington on Christmas Eve.

•His Grace, Archbishop O’Shea, will be a visitor itp Masterton during the week-end, and will administer the Saorament of Confirmation to about 80 candidates at St. Patrick's Church, tomorrow morning. In the afternoon Archbishop will visit Carterton to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Miss L. Payne, of Toronto, Canada,

who has been teaching at the Central School for the past three months on exchange with Miss V. Curtis, was met at the school last evening by the pupils of the folk dancing class which Miss Payne has conducted gratuitously since her arrival here, and presented with a collection of greenstone souvenirs as an expression of appreciation of her services and interest in the work.
