MOTOR FATALITY.

MAN KILLED IN -WELLINGTON. knocked down by motor LORRY. A distressing accident occurred shortly before 5 o’clock last evening in Jervois Quay, YVellingtou, opposite the fire brigade station, which resulted in the death of Mr W. Combs, of Hawke 's Bay, brother of Mr H. E. Combs, of 23 Konin road, ll.ataitai, the wellknown secretary of the Cost and Telegraph Officers ’ Association. ' Mr Combs, together with Mr J. Tillev, "of Karori, weer crossing the street when they were knocked down by a motor lory. Both were seriously injured, and were quickly removed to the hospital. Mr Combs succumbed to his injuries at 10.30 pan. It is not known exactly how the accident happened, and the police were, unable last night to supply any information concerning the circumstances. Mr ,Combs, who is a married man, 42 years of age, was in town on business, and was staying at the Commercial Hotel. His injuries consisted of severe wounds to his head and"shoulders. Mr J. Tilley was rather severely injured about the hips and right leg, and at an early hour this morning it was reported that he was in a rather serious condition.
