CARRANZA’S MURDER.
MYSTERIOUS FEATURES. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.' MEXICO CITY, Friday.* ' The committee appointed by General Obregon to make preliminary enquiry into the death of President Carranza reports that, after a formal investigation to clear up mysterious features, the committee is satisfied that it is proven that ILerrero knew where Carranza slept, and that lie assisted in placing sentinels, but left later for a near-by village. At three o ’clock the hut was attacked from all sides. Carranza was heard shouting: “I cannot get up; my leg is broken.’’ lie begged for a carbine with which to defend himself, but another immediate volley through the walls of the hut killed him.
JJerroro captured several of the attackers and forced these to sign a statement that Carranza committed suicide,
The committee appears to place the blame definitely upon Herrero, who has ■since surrendered to the authorities.
