PETROL SUPPLIES.
BRITISH TO SUPPLY EMPIRE.
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Thursday.
The Sunday-Express states that , the contract under which the Anglo-Per-sian Oil Company markets its output through the Royal Dutch Shell Combine will expire in 1912. After that the Anglo-Persian Company, owing to its far-seeing management, will be able to supply the British Empire with its requirements of petrol, and by 1924 will compete in all the markets of the world against the Royal Dutch Shell and Standard Oil Companies.
This explains the efforts of the Royal Dutch to secure control of the Mesopotamian oilfields, in the hope of being able to force the Anglo-Persian Company to renew the existing contract.
