WHEAT PROSPECTS.
SOWINGS LARGER FOR NEXT CROP. Mr Massey made, some inquiries in the South Island about the wheat prospects for next harvest. ‘ ‘ People who know told me that there was a very satisfactory increase in the area intended to be sown with wheat during the coming season,” said Mr Massey yesterday. i‘ As to the results of last harvest, 1 expect to be in a position to say defi-. nitely where we are in the course of a little while. The threshing season is practically over, so that we should have exact information as to the yield very soon. .Earlier in the season I was informed that the yield further south had not been so good, but I have no recent intimation.”
