VISIT TO MASTERTON
Masterton and the surrounding districts are to be afforded an intellectual
treat at, the end of the present month. Some of the brainiest men and women of America, are going to spend a week with us. They are going to talk well, s'.Tiij- well, act well. The programmer they will submit will be varied and instructive . There will be two sessions daily—afternoon and evening—and
fresh artists and fresh programmes every day. The season of the "Cbautausua r * will begin on February 28th, and will conclude on March oth. Mastor-
ton will have the honour to be one of the first townships in New Zealand to* be. visited. Miss Carsen came here yesterday and interviewed the guarantors, who arc sanguine of success, and are
about to get busy. Season tickets, which will admit any member of the family, will be procurable for ten shillings:
After Miss Carsen had last night addressed the meeting of guarantors, giving full details concerning "Chautauqua,'" His Worship the Mayor (Mr d. M. Coradine) was appointed President; of the local eommittc; Mr G. R. Sykes, M.F., secretary, with Miss Sutherland! -iiid Messrs Leslie and Combs assistants; and Mr G. A. Greenwood treasurer. A ticket committee was also appointed.
