The town of Opunake, in Taranaki, has been plunged into darkness owing to the high cost of carbide. At a special meeting of the Town Board to go into the matter of lighting it was unanimously decided to adopt the McFarlano Automatic Gas Patents to replace the Acetylene Generators. This decision was arrived at after going thoroughly into all other lighting systems submitted. The McFarlane system can be adepts'* to all existing pipes and fittings, the gaa is cheap, and the plant simple.) There are hundreds of lights, including streets.
