THE BOOT TRADE.

APPLICATION FOR DOMINION AWARD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The Conciliation Council was occupied to-day in hearing a dispute between the Federated Boot Trade Workers' Union aud the employers, a Dominion award being sought. At the outset the Commissioner raised the question whether the dispute had been properly filed aud the council properly constituted, in consequence of the associated unions not having taken a ballot of their individual members. The assessors replied that the dispute was between, two associations in which associations were units. It was agreed to accept the conditions and to constitute the council proceedings as being properly formulated. No agreement was reached on the proposals, and counter proposals, and the council adjourned till to-morrow to consider a suggestion made by the Commissioner covering all points in dispute. :•'
