LATER REPORT.
SIX MEN DEAD
WIVES AND YOUNG FAMILIES LEFT. Received Monday, at 0.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Monday. Six men are dead at West Wyaloug. Their names are Godfrey Maguire, Robert Navin, John Navin, Rupert Nicholson, John Muihali and Wm. Cunningham. The disaster was quite unexpected, as the mine was not suspected of containing foul air.
It is supposed that au explosion of rackarock released a pocket of foul
gasses. The inrush must havo been suddon, as most of the bodies were found a few feet from where the men were working. Cunningham, with Abe Wellington, managed to crawl out. Fail aud Zone were rescued with difficulty. Cunningham afterwards succumbed. Wellington is in the hospital in a serious condition. The funeral of the victims was the largest seen in the district. All except Cunningham left wives and young families who were de* pendent, on them.
