SYDNEY, Thursday
Judge lieydon, iv fiuing the delegate officials, said the meu possessed the coufideuce of their fellows, and their position was an houorable one; but iv cases, of this kiud that was au aggravation of the offence rather thau a mitigation. They were accused of influencing their fellows against the law, aud could uot have d.ue so if they were uot men whom their fellows trusted. Trey had usad their qualities to fight the commuuity aud bring about a. calamity to the couutry, and they could not now make a poor mouth wheu the facts wore brought home to them, He could uot see his way to reduce the fine, but would allow them a mouth iv which to pay. A number of the meu refused the concession, preferring to gj to gaol, but after consulting with their couusel they agreed to accept the time payment.
