WORKMEN'S FRIEND BUILDING SOCIETY.
The annual report of the Workmens' Friend Building Society shows that the worfi duriug the year has been of a satisfactory uature. The report is as follows:—Considering the depression that has prevailed iv the district, your Society has beeu maintained iv a sound aud progressive condition. Duriug the year the proposed amalgamation of the two Masterton Terminating Building Societies was discussed at a conference of the two Boards of Directors. Terms were submitted by your directors. These were declined,aud the negotiations have termiuatsd."A:Now : that it has been decided to work ou au independent basis, your Directors appeal to you to co-operate in building up the Society iuto a strong aud useful institution. The power of the individual may be small, but the results of co-operation ara great. Your Directors anticipate a large iuflux of uew members during the coming year. The retiring Directors are Messrs Lewis, McEweii, Rigg and Winzeuberg, who, being eligible, have given due notice of their intention to offer themselves for re-election as Directors.—W. H.
