PIRATE'S dam, Violetta (imp.) is by Echo (son of Rysdyk's Hambletonian), from Nita (by Sawyers' Hambletonian), from Betsy Austin (by Montreal, a Canadian pacer). Having been for several seasons standing at the Hobartville stud, and mated with the very best mares in Australia, including Kentucky Maid (dam of Ostlerie), it will be seen that Pirate's credentials are equal to, if not better than, any sire in New Zealand. PIRATE is the sire of a great number of noted performers. PIRATE has a beautiful temper, and is perfectly quiet in saddle or harness. He is a beautiful deep chestnut, standing 16 hands 1 inch high.
