WESTPORT, Last Night,
Hickey, oue of the dismissed Blackball miners, and now a delegate, addressed a meeting of miners at Denniston last night. The men decided to subscribe to the funds to assist towards the maintenance of the women and children at Blackball.
It is unlikely that the trouble at Blackball will affect the regular working of the miues iv the Westport district.
A suggestion made at the meeting that the miners should lay down their tools did not meet with any support whatever. GREYMOUTH, Last Night. At a meeting of the Miners' Union, at Blackball, to-day, it was decided to stand firm. The Denniston Union has voted £50 to assist the strikers. There is no chauge in the position of affairs at Blackball. The State coal miners are determined not to take part in the trouble, and express themselves very much against the attitude of the Blackball men. At Tyneside the question is not considered, the men blaming the agitators for the trouble. • •
