OPAKI QUOITS CLUB.

The usual monthly competitions of the Opaki Quoits Club wereheldatMrMcLeod's mill on Saturday, and as the weather was perfect the attendance was good, and a very enjoyable time was spent.
The men played the final rounds for Messrs J. Payton and Co.'s and Mr Cress' trophies, S. Tankersley winning the former and Basil Campbell the latter.
The monthly competition was well contested, the result being as follow:—Seniors : Christensen, 1; R. Tankersley, 2; A. Chamberlain, 3. Juniors: Basil Campbell, 1; J. Clune, 2 ; Richard Campbell, 3.
The ladies played the usual handicap game, 200 up, for Mr E. Welch's trophy, the winner being Miss J. Campbell; Miss Wyeth, 2.
During the afternoon tea adjournment, Mr Wyeth notified that three other trophies had been given for competition; one by Miss Duckett for the ladies, and the other .two by Messrs Krahagen and Chapman, and Bert Campbell and brothers. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the donors for their generosity ; also, to the ladies, for serving afternoon tea.
The following team was picked to represent the Opaki Juniors against the Carlton Club, on Thursday, sth October :—C. Petersen, J. Pain, J. Campbell, junr., W. Tankersley, Richard Campbell, P. Stevensen, Basil Campbell, Bert Campbell, A. Campbell, N. Campbell, R. Campbell, senr., J. Clune, S. Blewett, A. Donaldson, A. Petersen, N. Wyeth and H. Daken. The juniors are asked to meet at Wyeth's grounds, at 2.30 p.m., on the date stated above.
