SHIPPING LEGISLATION.
Britain and the Colonies.
(Received To-day, at 7,30 a.m.)
London, Last Night,
Mr C. T. Henderson, presiding at the annual general meeting of the Shipowners' Society, remarked, that in view of some of the laws already passed in Australia and New Zealand, and a Bill, relating to shipping, now before the Australian Navigation Commission, Mr A.. Lyttelton's suggestion, -that the colonies should send representatives to the Conference, in London, was of the highest importance. It was very desirable that the Conference should promote uniformity in shipping legislation, remove existing ambiguities, and prevent the passage of laws which are at variance with Imperial legislation, and which cause serious injury to the trade and tend to create disputes between the Colonies and the Motherland.
