The Consul-General for Germany * has received official advices that' the changes desired by Australia in the Marshall Island will be given effect to on October Ist.

Mr Deakin read a cable in the Federal House of Representatives from the Hon. Alfred Lyttelton, announcing the receipt by the British Government of a conciliatory German Note to the effect that facilities would be granted Messrs Barns, Philp and Co., to lease land for trading stations in the Marshalls and Carolines, and that the GJerman Government were also revising the fiscal legislation for the Marshalls. The announcement was received with cheering
