Fire Brigade Card Tournament.

[to the editor.]

Sir,—Allow me, through your columns, to deny a statement made by a Salvation Army officer from his platform that he was sorry to see that members of the Card Tournament were gambling. It is one of our rules that no betting shall be allowed while a game of cards is in progress. My executive has instructed me to extend an invitation to the whole of the Salvation Army or anyone else to attend one of our tournaments. I might say that these tournaments were got up to keep the members of the Fire Brigade and Fire Police at the Station in case of an alarm. Thanking you for your valuable space.—l am, etc.,

L. H. Lewis, Secretary Card Tournament Association
