At Brighton, to-day, the Australians began tho match with Sussex. Tho weather was fine, with a fast wicket and a small attendance of the public.

Tho County team is as follows : — Fry, Chapman, Vine, Relf, Killick, Cox, Leach, Butt, Seymour, Dwyer and R. Relf.

Layer, Newland, Gregory and Hill stood out of the Australian team.

Tru'nper was taken at the wickets. Then the partnership between Dull and Noble increased the score considerably, play being characterised by clean hitting. The century was hoisted as tho result of seventy-live minutes , batting. The partnership, which lasted an hour and a-half, put on 123. Tho scoro stands Australia, three wickets for 151. Noble was badly missed in the slips when 24.
