"No sir," said the verger, "I have my horders, and no one can pass in without a ticket." " But I tell you I am a pew-holder," expostulated the irate citizen. " Yessir, I knows, and your being so admits you any other time but this. This is a special occasion. It baint the h'or'nary choir wot's recitin , , sir, it's the Three Festivals choir, and Miss Hada Crossley is a'soloing. And no one can't get in without a ticket/ " Perhaps you'll tell me next I shall require a ticket to enter the kingdom of heaven?" exclaimed the angry deadhead. " Well, no, sir," replied the verger, " But, then, you won't 'ear Hada Crossley in 'Eaven !"
