DEATH OF A PIONEER COLONIST.

Oamaru, Last Night.

The death is announced of Mr John Church, aged 84. lie arrived at Oamaru in 1871. He was previously prominent in journalistic circles, and he assumed the editorship of the North Utago Times. He held the position of Secretary to the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society since 1872, and was recognised as the oldest secretary in the colony. He continued active work till a year ago when tailing health compelled his retirement.
