Lessons of the War.

Admiral Bridge's Opinion.

(Received To-day, at 7.45 a.m.)

London, Last Night,

Admiral Sir Cyprian A. G. Bridge, G.C.8., interviewed at Yokohama, stated that the chief lesson of the war was the success of the destroyers.

The Chemulpo action was fought at a range of 7,400 yards (over four miles), proving the value of heavy guns, and minimising the efficiency of secondary batteries. Twenty per cent, of tho shots took effect compared with three in the engagement off Santiago. He was not surprised at the Japanese successes, and he anticipated the surrender and destruction of the Port Arthur fleet.
