Wairarapa Rugby Union.
The Committee of the above Union met at Carterton, on Saturday evening. It was decided to apprise the Hawke's Bay Union that matches could not be arranged in the district for any day in the week other than a Saturday or a Thursday, and- suggested that the Union's return match with Wairarapa be played on 27th August. The South Canterbury Union wrote asking that the Southern tour of the local " rep. " team he postponed for one week in order that the cjate already 'arranged with Canterbury should' be available for the former's match. This could not be done, but efforts will be mad,e to meet South Canterbury at Tirnaru, on the Tuesday following the Qtago match, provided .£ls towards expenses are guaranteed, Mr W. F. Bairstow was appointed sole Manager of the team during the tour to Southland and intermediate provinces.
It was decided to await the results of next Saturday's junior fixtures before drawing the eO-C'.Uuing matches of the third round.
A transfer was granted from the junior to the third-class team of' the' Greytown ciub: ■■■■■'
Secretary was empowered to make all arrangements in connection with the visit of the Wellington team on 18th July. The Selection Committee reported that an understanding had not been arrived at with regard to the team to represent the district against Wellington aud that ono member desired to place tho position before his Club before a final selection wore made. His fellow-committeemen assented.
The game played at Wellington on Saturday between Manawatu and Wellington junior representatives resulted in a draw, each side gaining three points. Tho game was fairly even, but never brilliant, The senior ohampionship contest —between Poneke and Melrose—resulted in a win for Poneke by 8 no'-*----to 8. - --"•'

Wanganui, This Day. The representative match Manawatu y. Wanga'nni, played oh Saturday afternoon, resulted in a win for Manawatu by 4 points to 3. Manawatu were much superior in the first spell, but in tho second spell the Wanganui players had matters much their own way. They had hard luck several times in not scoring.
