FOOTBALL.

A football match was played at Napier yesterday between the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union and the Dannevirke subUnion, the former winning by 28 points to 6 points. The Selection Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union decided to nominate the following players to take part in the Wellington Provincial team v. New Zealand, on 11th July, the day on which the latter team leaves for Australia: —Back, Rogers; forwards, Warner (wing), Udy, Johnston, Workman, A. Cadwallader, and Raieerj.

The team to represent the district in its home-and-home with Wellington will be selected at Carterton, on Saturday.

Masterton Juniors play Gladstone on the Oval, on Saturday, and will be represented by tbe following:—Williams (2), Hunt (2), Walker, O'Connell, Rose, Welch, Maher, Jenkins. Feilding, Sellar, McLaren, Kingdon, Warner; emergency, Newman. In the event of Gladstone not putting in an appearance, the Masterton Seniors will play the next eighteen. The former have still two or three important matches and it is necessary that they should keep in form.

The Third-class team has pitted itself against All-comers, on the Oval, at 2 o'clock. A good muster is expected.
