James Craig, a middle-aged man, formerly in the employ of the City Council, was killed at Hellaby's shuiglitor-lion.su, Richmond, to-day. He was building a drive at the bottom of ;i well 100 ft deep to increase the water supply. A bucket of earth had been hoisted and emptied, and the man at tho windlass, thinking the bucket had been replaced on the hook, swung it iii. Through some cause the bucket camo off the hook and fell on Craig's head, fracturing bis skull. He was taken to the Hospital, but died ten minutes after adinissiou. He leaves a wife and family.

A man named James C. Conway, while coming down from Lvaikoura in the steamer Wakalu to Christchurch Hospital, suffering from a broken leg, died on board last night.

The yacht which was reported a 9 having sunk with her crew off Drunken Bay proved to be the yacht Uuo. Two of the crew, brothers, swam ashore, but declined to give their names, The third man, Frank Jackson, clung to the yacht for two hoars and was rescued iu au uucousciousstate.
