I iron Our Own Correspondent), ffedncsdav. The Sports in connection with "the Maurieeyille Athletic Club were held yesterday. The weather was perfect, and there was a large attendance. Messrs M. Kelleher, of Eketahuua, (publican's], A. Williams (refreshment), and Mr Scorrar (fancy goods stall) all seemed lo do a roaring trade. The Hastwcll Drass Hand enlivened the proceedings by plajing a large and varied programme in their best style. The Committee worked hard, and kept things going like clockwork. Special praise is duo to Mr Gunderson the President aud Father of Hie Club, for he was everywhere, and Mr C. Petersen for the manner in which he entertained the small fry. They were in clover and by winning it was a ease of one child one prize. Mr C. Brooks is also largely responsible for the success of the meeting. This methodical business-like system, kept cverylhiug in apple-pic order, and proved liim to be the right man in the right place. In the evening a ball (very largely attended) was held iu Hollieus' Hall, which was prettily decorated. Mr J. Kearsley, jttnr., of Wellington, supplied excellent music, while Messrs K. Jensen, G. Coc and U. Martin, M.C.'s, kept all merry until after daylight. .1 cannot pass without congratulating Mr Hollieus on his successful catering.
