MAURIEVILLE C ROAD BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, the 25th May, 1895. Present—Messrs Eorsbcrg (in the chair) Heckler and Kummei'. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed. Mr G. Isakson wrote requesting permission to erect a fonco on unused road adjoining his section at Hastwell.—The Chairman undertook to visit the locality and see what could bo done.

Messrs Dagg, Jncld, Kennedy and other settlers petitioned tho Board to take immediate steps to clear off the slips on the Ilmraua Valley Road. Mr L. Dorset and Mr T. Salter 1 interviewed the Board withreferencc to the bridges, giving access to their respective properties, and whioli have been swept away by the recent floods.—-They were informed that the Board has practically no funds on hand, which can be used to re-1 place theso bridges, mid wore advised to raise small loans to enablo the work to be done at once; ; but this each declined to do. It was suggested that the Board advance the money required, but thore seems no feasible plan whereby the money could be repaid.—lt was finally resolved that, before the Board come to any decision in the matter, the parties interested should see what assistance could be got from thirds coming from neighbouring sections.

It was resolved that in future the rages to he paid by the Board for a nan with horse and dray should be 10s per day. The action of tho Chairman in ranging with settlers on the Mount ilunvo Eoad to keep the Road in •opair until Christmas for the sum if £ls, was approved.
