Had I been present at thelate meeting, Mr Feist would not have beaten Mr Renall by 20 vote bu by 60, as I should have exposed The untrue statements Mr Renall made on hat occasion. lam glad however, to see the ratepayers are above claptrap. When for £265 lis 4d. I simply say this because I have been placed in an unfortunate position. ■ Of the members of the old Local Board Mr Feist is the only man who has got up to defend it besides myself when Mr Renall has attacked it. Mr Kenall accused me on Monday night of having snubbed members of the (Jou* cil when I was Mayor. I appeal to former members whether I did not treat! them with the utmost courtesy, excepting one,MrWoodroofe, and I should C listened to him with the greatest pleasure if he had ever uttered six words with any sense in them. Mr Renall was formerly! Secretary and Treasurer to the old Road Board, I hear that he has never, ren-1 dered an account to the present day ■ Mrßenall-Attheoldßoadßoardl never had anything to do'with the money I was neither Secretary nor Treasurer The bank book Mr Williams has shown you is a sham. Ask Mr Wilsone if it has been presented to him to be audited It is a damned sham (loud applause.) ■ After a scene of some confusion, in which the crowd cheered and both Mr Renall and Mr Williams spoke together whUe the advance agent of theTroubador troupe dived m with a handfull of bills and placed some two or three hundred in about three minutes, Mr Williams, obtaining a hearing, said it wasthe late Mr Masters they had to thank for the Small Farm Reserves, not Mr Rena 1. Mr Rockel, as a member of the old Road Board, testified to the fact that they had tried to get a statement of acQounts.from Mr Renall, and had failed in doing bo. !■.■'' " ! ■ ■■■ • After a few more speeches of a fragmentary character had been made the crowd dispersed.
