GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting was held on Monday evening. Present .•-Councillors Udy (m the chair), K, ?. Smith, ?' TV' Kemiltoll ' J - Bmitll > J ' Fuller, J. gillie, T, O, Barnard, and R A. Wakehn. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. COKKESPOKDEKCE-OOHVARDS. To Colonial Treasurer re subsidy; to 7 w T'V 6 horse sold in pound; to A. \. Henall, ro same; to town clerk, Masterton, re poundage; to H, Wakelin re printing by-laws; to J. Payton. re same; to the Colonial Treasurer, re subsidy.
INWAIiDS, From Manager Bunk of New Zealand re overdraft, &c.; from J. Darrock. re rent of cottage on reserve; from Colonial Secretary, re by-laws; from town clerk Masterton, re poundage; from R Wakehn, quoting £4 for 260, and £5 for 500 copies by-kws; from J. Payton, quoting £3 for 200, and £4los for 500 copies of by-laws. EESOLUTIONS, Councillor J. Smith moved, seconded by Councillor Wukelin, and carried—That the letter from BankKZ. be referred to Finance Committee. Councillor J. Smith moved, seconded by Councillor Baillie, and carried—That the by-laws come into operation on Ist December next, and be published according to the Act seven days before coming into force. Councillor J. Smith moved, seconded by Councillor Kempton, and carried— I hat seven days' final notice be given to ratepayers in arrear, and the clerk be instructed to sue for those unpaid after that date, Councillor J. Smith moved, seconded by Councillor Gray, and carried—That applications be invited for the office of ranger; that the fees to be allowed poundkeeper and ranger be fixed at Is per head each for great cattle, and that the impounding fee shall belong to the borough. PETITION. The petition from residents in Kemp-ton-street re the Council taking over the control of said street was fully discussed, wft v. bmith being of opinion that the street could not be taken over unless formed and made. The following resolution, moved by Cr Wakelin and°seconded by Cr Gray, was finally put and carried :-« That the advice of the solicitor be taken on the matter, and if legal for the Council to take over street in present state they do so, and that a special meeting be convened for this night fortnight for the purpose of adopting this resolution.
RE BY-lAWS, The reporter from the Standard office stated he believed the quotation for printing 250 copies was an error; it should be £2, not £4, but would not guarantee they would be printed for that. Cr Baillie movedjCr Kempton seconded, that if they can be printed for £2 250 copies be ordered from the Standard office. RE RENT OF COTTAGE. Resolved unanimously, that as it was an understanding that rent was to commence from date of purchase, Mr Darrock be informed it must be paid immediately. The meeting then adjourned.
