CEMETERY TRUSTEES.
To the Editor of the Wauarapa Daily,
Sir,—ln a local of your last issue I have read that in the event of the Masterton Cemetery trustees being gazetted in time, a meeting of that Board would take place after the meeting of the Park trustees on Wednesday, About two months since I have seen in your journal the names of gentlemen who were to fill vacancies caused by death and resignation in the Park and Cemetery Trusts, and no doubt the names were duly forwarded to the Colonial Secretary for the Governor's approval under the provisions of the Act of 1875, In a subsequent issue of your paper I find that Messrs D, McGregor and S. E. Gapper were duly gazetted to fill the vacancies in the Park Trust; but it would appear by your local of last date that the gentlemen recommended to fill the vacancies in the Cemetery Trust, caused by the death of Mr Bannister, and the resignation of Mr R. G. Williams, have not yet been gazetted. I understand there are certain rules and regulations for the management of the Cemetery to be submitted for consideration, and as they are of importance, it appears desirable to have a full meeting of the board. ° I have also heard that the Secretary of the Trust has again written to the Colonial Secretary, and also to Mr Beetham, our representative, on the subject of the cause of delay, but as yet he has received no reply. I cannot account for this waste of time, unless to those political erup ion- going on at present for place and emolument, to the serious neglect of the business of the colony, I am, &c., Observer. [The names appear in the Gazette of the 23rd inst,—Ed, W. D,]
