In the House, Hall announced that lie had, in compliance with the request of the Governor, named the following, the Governor approving Whitaker, senior, Attorney-General; Hall, Colonial Secretary and Premier; Atkinson, Treasurer and Customs; Oliver, Public Works; Rolleston, Land, Immigration, and Education ; Bryce, Native Affairs; Tomoana, Maori member of Executive Council, This was not the full number of eight, but they thought it sufficient to proceed with public business, and complete the whole number at an early day. Portfolios for Post Office, Mines, Justice have not yet been decided on, but when completed would probably find a re-arrangement of portfolios, and probably one to more adequately provide for those parts of the Colony now unrepresented, They decided to ask the House for an adjournment to
Tuesday, so'as to enable them to become acquainted with the official routine, and frame the policy, they intended to submit to the House. Thought this was obviously best for the House and country, and best calculated to facilitate the public business,
Montgomery suggested an adjournment to Friday.
Macandrew moved that as an amendment, and intimated that as soon as the new Ministry took their seats on the benches, he would at once move a want of confidence resolution.
Wakefield spoke against the unfairness of refusing a reasonable request, and several members having spoken pro. and con., Adams, Bowen, and Atkinson advised Hall to accept the amendment of the Opposition to adjourn till Friday, especially as the Opposition said they would grant a further extension of time if necessary.
After a gcod deal of. sparring Hall accepted the adjournment till Friday. He must have lost had there been a division, especially as some of Hall's supporters were away, not anticipating any conflict. The House accordingly adjourned till Friday.
During the sitting an Imprest Supply Bill for £200,000 passed all stages, Hamlin occupied Bryce's position on the Native Affairs Committee to-day.
No trace yet of the missing three Greek sailors, The new Ministry were sworn at 5.30 and took possession of offices, the other Ministers having left. In the Supreme Court, Morton Quinn was charged with embezzling £9los, the property of the Wellington District Court of Foresters. The principal point was that counsel for the defence objected there was no proof of registration of the names of the trustees, pointing nut that the-cer-tificate of the registration of rules was uy G. S. Cooper, Colonial Secretary, for Registrar of Friendly Societies, instead of by tho Registrar himself. Tlie Court held that the objection was fatal, and the jury acquitted prisoner. This is the third case of a similar character which has fallen through here lately. The Crown prosecutor intimated his intention of sending another bill to the grand jury, charging Quinn with larceny of money of co-partnership of which he was a member. A charge of this nature is now going on against Welsh, Secretary of the Hibernian Society, who do not pretend to be registered at all.
In the Gisborne riot case the grand jury threw out the bill and made presentment as to the hardship of sending distant place cases, which should be dealt with on the spot. GISBORNE, . Thuisday. Lawrence, accountant in Read's estate was served three writs by Rees' solicitor to recover LII,OOO for conspiracy and defamation of character. Robert Cooper, was also served with a writ by Rees f;r L2OOO for defamation of character and conspiracy; he has also issued another against J. S. Macfarlane and E. H. Ward of similar charges. AUCKLAND. Tuesday.
In the Supreme Court to-day, the Grand Jury threw out the bill against the captain and mate of the ship Minister of Marine for violent assault on a seaman. Frederic Hudson, charged with stealing £ll from George Parker, formerly a passenger by the steamer Ladybird, was acquitted. The prosecutor was absent in Sydney, but his sworn deposition was accepted as evidence.
DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A Committee of three gentlemen have issued subscription cards to obtain funds for the relii>f of the sufferers by the Octagon fire. A special committeee of the City Council recommend that efforts should be made to secure an Act of Parliament for licensing and supervising Ipdging houses, and also that a bye-law should be passed restricting the building of partitions in brick and stone structures. CHRISTOHURCH. Tuesday.
A man named Samuel Baldwin, a recent arrival in the colony, was this morning found lying in a paddock in the Heatlicota Valley in a state of exhaustion from want and exposure, He was taken to the hospital, and after lingering for some hours, expired at the close of the day. An inquest will be held.
The criminal session of Supreme Court concluded to-day. Hall, for perjury, got two years' imprisonment; and Wm Wood for larceny in a dwelling, two years' hard labor.
The Weka Pass section of the Northern railway is quite full, and more applications are received for employment on the Albury railway than can' be granted at p r esnt. Work is let at prices by which able-bodied men can earn a maximum of 8s a day.
On Sunday morning the house of a person named Patchott was burnt down. The
fire is supposed to have originated by ashes being blown from an open fireplace,

Consequent upon the remarkable success attending the use of the rhodium receipt, the rabbit pest is regarded as at an end in Southland. Two stations have already been cleared of the vermin, and the receipt is being applied far and wide. The weather has been lovely during the past two days, and the pastoral and farming interests are jubilant..
