WAIRARAPA INSTITUTE.
A Committee meeting of the Wairarapa Institute was held on Tuesday. Present: Messrs Wood (in the chair), Haines, Stenhouse, Porritt, Thomas, and Brooks. The minutes of the last meeting was read and confirmed
The following accounts were passed for payment :-Mr E. Gray, £7/4; Mr E. Wakelin, £l/5, A letter was received and read from the Town Clerk stating that tho Council regretted tiiey could not remit the rates as a donation at present. Re appointment of Chairman, it was postponed till next meeting, A discussioa took place in connection with the olectiou of the book committee and the matter of bye-laws. Several books were laid on the table from the stock of Mr St. George for selection.
It was resolved on the motion of MiBrooks, seconded by Mr Haines, that the books selected from Mr St. Geonre be purchased. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Porritt, seconded by Mr Brooks, that a set of by-laws be drawn up and submitted to next meeting. Mr Brooks moved, and Mr Stenhouse seconded, that Messrs Porritt, Haines, and Thomas be a sub-committee to draw up by-laws.—Carried, Eightythree new books had been added during the month. A vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the business.
