CARTERTON.
(from our own correspondent.) July 18,1879. The final dress rehearsal of our amateur dramatists took place yesterday evening, and if those who appear on the stage are not attack by a sudden fit of nervousness the first piece at any rate will go off in a most satisfactory manner. However, you shall have full details for next issue. I think that on this occasion, Mr Louis Spate, a recent Teutonic importation, will carry off the laurels so far as acting goes, and that Mr G. A. Eairbrother's voice will be most distinctly heard. I don't think Mr Pettit " will make any mistake" in the song lie produces for the audience, How Constable Dellar will cany out his duties a furfchercognisance of his mus-cular powers must decide, but I believe in case of a riot he would be no inefficient preservative of Her Majesty's peace, and I don't think he will be of the piece he takes part in either. But in the " two gay old covies" " Edmund the Goose be it well understood, is a man of a most irrepressible mood," and it is well known Shaw is sure to be well " posted up" in his part and there is no doubt Mr Williamson will put his professional "cape" on and make efficient provisions between Mr Magnus Smith and Mr Tolemachet Thompson and himself under the Landlord and Tenant's Act to see that he is not thrown out of the door; No, sir! nor out of the window neither. Mr Keir, no doubt, will discharge his professional duties in hisaccus. tomed efficient manner, notwithstading his " want of memory." Mr Minifie from his excellent acting may well say to any lady in the room " Minnie, fie! why not applaud me 1" The Earl of Huntingdon on the left seems slightly groggy, Mr Jester on the right very much so; but the summit of the proscennium announces " Advance Carterton." And so say all of us. _____^__
