GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening last, Present—Cra T. Ivempton, jun., Gray, Baillie, Gallagher, J. Smith, Udy, Barnard, and Fuller, In the absence of the Mayor, Or Udy was voted to the chair. The minutes of ftho last meeting wore md and confirmed, CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence outward was read.' Inward, From Constabulary Department re relieving constable of the pound. From Wairarapa West County Council re assisting in putting the main road in repair, which they declined, From Commissioner of land tax respecting valuation lists. From Mr Willousrliby, constable of Groytown station re boundaries of the borough. From Featherston Highway Board with respect to gravel reserve. From T, W, Braggins accepting the office of poundkeeper until permanently appointed. KEPORTS, From the comniitteo appointed to visit the embankment at the railway bridge at the IVaiohino. Returning Officer reported the re-elec-tion of Messrs George Wyett and A, L, Webster, as auditors for the ensuing year, The Town Clerk reported having received L 5 17s (Id from Mr Moffatt, on account of amount collected by him for clearing White Pine Creek, RESOLUTIONS. Resolved, That Messrs Baillie, Udy, and Keinpton, junr., be requested to draw up a memorial re the Woodside embankment, to be signed by. the ratepayers and tu be forwarded to Government, Resolved that the Works Committee 'be requested to inspect the roads as follows, viz.,—a portion of the road on Humphries line, also to the Kuratawhiti road, niid also, a portion of Frederick-st, and if necessary to call tenders for repairing sam'o. Resolved that a Committee be appointed of Crs Baillee, Udy, and Gray to value Mr Darrick's house on gravel rcsorve a id to report at next meeting. Resolved that the Government be {requested that the Emigrant cottages land'be conveyed as a portion of an (endowment to the Borough. , The Town Clerk was instructed to give Constable Willoughby the necessary information re boundaries. I, The Town Clerk was instructed to lascertain from Mr Braggins his charge .for lighting the Council Chambers. t It was unanimously resolved thai! a special meeting be convened for Friday evening next at 1 p. in. for the purpose of confirming by-laws. { Or J. Tmith gave notice of motion at the next meeting that a dog tax be levied, and a Registrar appointed.
