MASTERTON PARK TRUSTEES.
A meeting of the Park Trustees was held in the Council Chambers on the 27th instant. Present—Messrs Renall, (in the chair), Vile, McCardle, Ilare, Feist, and Woodroofc, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, A lotto mi received from Mr E. G. Williams tendering his resignation as a member of the Trust. Resolved— I That his resignation be accepted, and that this meeting desires to record its thanks to Mr Williams for the assistance he has given to the Trust during his term (if olKce. The Treasurer having informed tho meeting that there is now to tho credit of tho Trust in the Bank of ,New Zealand the sum of £65 Gs od, it was resolved— That £SO of that amount be invested in the Masterton Building Society at interest for a period of six months. Resolved—That the Cemetery Trustees bo requested to assist in the erection of a small building near tho dividing fence for the protection of working tools and plements, Resolved—That the Secretary be requested to write to Dr Hector for a donation of trees for the Masterton Park. Resolved—That the Treasurer and a member of the Works Committee have the power to sign a cheque for a month's wages for the Custodian, when no meeting of tho Trust is likely to be convened. Resolved—That tho Custodian's salary for current month be paid. Resolved—That the Custodian be requested to asssist Mr McCardle to plant trees in tho Park. Resolved—That in consequonca of damage done to the Park by dogs, notice be inserted in the Wairarapa Daily that poison will be laid. Tho following report from the Works Committee was received In compliance with the resolution of the Board at last meeting, Messrs McCardle audi Hare, of the Works Committee, visited the Park Reserve on the sth instant,
and measured the oval sot apart forsports ' 1 and recreation purposes. They beg to- I report as follows: •' I 1. The oval measures 202 yards by 153, . and beyond'these limits are walks, terraccs, and undulating ground, which can easily;bq utilised should the above space or arqaSbo not found sufficient on any particular occasion. ' 2/' Tlio contents o£ the oval, is a level piece of ground., is about six acres. • 3. The oval is now becoming very solid, the bowling ground particularly so, and will, after a few rollings and if the grass is mowed before the season for sports arrives, be all that tho lovers of sport and recreation can reasonably desire. .
