TARATAHI-CARTERTON HIGHWAY BOARD.
A meeting of the Wardens was held at the office of the Board on the 25th Feb. , 1879. Present—Messrs Booth (chairman), Oorpe, Lister-Kayo, Reynolds and Strawbridge. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer stated the balance at the Bank was £GG2I6s sd. G. Sayers was paid £2O on account of contract Manaia Gully Line, The following tenders were received Vilcs' Line: H. Burgess, £2 per chain: J. Allen, £1 15s per chain. Accepted. Arnold's Line: Shecrin and Watson, £1 9s Gd per chain; H. Burgess, 19s 6d per per chain ; H. Wallbridge, lGs per chain. These tenders were declined, as the price was considered excessive. East Taratahi Road and Perry's Line; H. Burgess, 8 chains each, £llss, £llos and £1 2s Gd per chain ; Sheerin and Watson, £l9s Gd per chain ;M. Wilde, £1 Gs per chain ; J. Driscoll, £1 ss, £1 as, and £1 per chain. J, Driscoll's tendar was accepted, The toll-gate was re-leased to Mr Leppien at £BOO per annum. A letter was received from the County Chairman requesting tho Highway Board to reconsider their decision regarding the Black Bridge. After the previous corresdence had been read, tho Chairman was requested to write drawing tho attention of the Council to Section.Bo of the Counties' Act, and declining the supervision of the bridge. The next meeting was appointed for the 28th March. .
