Fell, Mayor of Blenheim, for the use of threatening language, wos heard tliis morning before Messrs Mclntyre, 8.M., andCoko, J,P. Mr McNab, for defendant, applied for an udjourment in order that Mr Connolly, a barrister, might attend, and because of tho absence of material witnesses, . Mr Sinclair, for the complainant, opposed tho adjournment. The Bench decided that in the interests of justice the case should be adjourned. Tho Resident Magistrate said this was not On account of tho absence of counsel,.but. from the inability of the defendant to summon absent witnesses, and because of the large number (31) to bo examined. There had also been an interval of nino days between tho alleged oftence and issue of the summons, which weighed with the Bench. The position of the parties was. also a grave matter, and no doubt the defendant would consider himself bound not to use threats of violence during the term of adjournment.
