SCHOOL PICNIC.

END OF SCHOLASTIC YEAR. A LARGE AND HAPPY GATHERING. The combined school picnic of the St. Patrick’s and Morven Convents was attended by a particularly large gathering, making it such a success that it is intended to hold the function annually. The sports, which were held during the day, drew large entries, the two schools emulating each other, and both gaining a fair share of the honours. The most notable feature of the day was the wonderful performance of 0. O’Sullivan, of St. Pat’s, who won the six championship events. This performance will seldom be equalled. Although the weather was dull the day remained fine, and the children spent a most happy time. The adults joined in the spirit of the function and seemed to enjoy it as much as the children, their races being patronised well. The officials were mainly responsible for the success of the day, and are deserving of a word of praise. The following were the results: —•
